Walchensee & Füssen loop
Turquoise lakes, forest gravel and one very famous castle. Four days at a moderate pace.
Starnberg & Ammersee lakes loop
A gentle introduction. Flat gravel, big lake views and an easy pace over three days.
Berchtesgaden & Königssee loop
Sustained climbing, alpine passes and finishes by the Königssee. Six days of sporty riding.
Two friends who love bikepacking.
Bavaria by Bike is run by two friends who simply love bikepacking — and both grew up in Bavaria. One of us has ridden from Poland to Norway, toured the Loire Valley castles by bike, and done several other multi-day trips. The other has spent years working for a company that organizes bikepacking events, so planning multi-day rides on two wheels has been part of his life for several years.
We chose Bavaria because the cycling infrastructure is excellent and the landscapes are incredibly varied — high alpine passes, quiet lake shores and historic city centres. We plan every trip around the routes, campsites and small details we would want ourselves.
